A Day On The Water – From My Point Of View

Update: This was the system I used before the GoProHD camera came out which is a much simpler system to use (no wires!).  I would suggest it over the VioSport POV1.

I purchased a VioSport POV1 January of 2009 and for being a small camera I have to say it’s built rock solid.  The camera head is made of metal, not plastic.  This was one of the reasons I really liked this unit because I know how well cheap little plastic cameras hold up.

If you are buying this camera one thing you must buy is the mounting pouch for the recording unit.  It’s a sturdy little bag that holds the recording unit snugly in place and offers some snapping straps that allow you to mount it to various things.  For kiteboarding, it mounts perfectly on the straps on my harness right next to my right hip which makes it easy to Continue reading A Day On The Water – From My Point Of View

Prague

I had some very random footage from our Christmas 2009 trip to Prague to visit my wife’s family. It was super cold and I had to shoot everything handheld. I totally screwed up. I took a fluid video head with me and small travel-size Manfrotto tripod. Only problem is, this particular tripod has a center post with a NON-detachable ball head already mounted to it. I meant to switch out the posts before I left the states but forgot in the last minutes of packing.

Sedlec Ossuary

Recently went to Sedlec Ossuary, aslo known as the “Bone Church” which is a church of bones, decorated with 40,000 human skeletons and is located outside of Prague, Czech Republic. Unfortanately, the day we went the church was closed and we couldn’t get in. We could peek in some windows and walk the grounds though. I couldn’t pass up this opportunity to shoot some scary video. This place was creepy. You can see a virtual tour of the church here: 360cities.net/image/kutna-hora-inside-bone-chapel-czech-republic

Going Home

Was flying back from Europe after spending Christmas with my wife’s family in Prague and had some time to kill.  I had my Canon HV30 with me and couldn’t resist getting a bit creative to past the time.  I am still amazed at what you can get out of the Canon HV30.

Edited in Premiere Pro CS4 with a little Magic Bullet Looks.
